Nestled among the modern Phoenix Convention Center to the South, the Arizona Center shopping plaza to the north, and the Arizona State University – Downtown Campus to the East, stands one of the most prestigious cathedrals in the Valley. St. Mary’s Basilica, founded in 1881 and completed in 1914, is the only basilica in Arizona. It is also home to Arizona’s largest stained glass windows collection.
The elegant archways and beautifully designed interior, grand Mission-style exterior, and beautiful landscaped grounds all make this an historic attraction. Mass is held every day, and the enormous bells are rung every Sunday morning. To experience the sights and sounds of St. Mary’s in downtown Phoenix is well worth the visit!
