We are enamored with Victoria, BC,with its clean air, ocean breezes, abundant foliage, and organic eateries. In short, it won our hearts.
The Craigdarroch Castle Historic House Museum is a Victorian-era castle complete with lavish furnishings, stunning woodwork and lots of stained glass. Most of the décor is original and boasts one of the most notable collections of heirloom pieces for all to see. Built in the mid-1800’s, this landmark Castle has been used as a private mansion to the builder and his family, a military hospital, and was also the first classroom for students attending Victoria College. www.thecastle.ca
Sightseeing at the inner harbor started at the underwater aquarium. The Pacific Undersea Gardens is located next to Steam Ship Terminal and is an easily recognizable white square building on the edge of the harbor. There, we took stairs to descend about 4 meters into the heart of the complex where we could enjoy peering into huge aquariums to view exotic fish, octopi, and coral. Our visit also included an opportunity to see an underwater diver point out different types of underwater sea life. www.pacificunderseagardens.com
Another interesting sightseeing trek was the Victoria Hippo Tours. This sea-worthy bus took us to the outer edges of Victoria’s inner harbor, as well as INTO the inner harbor! It was great fun to ride an amphibious bus and take in the sights on land and by sea! www.victoriahippotours.com
